About Us

We exist to serve, shape, and build the digital security of organizations

for a safer tomorrow.

Founded in Oklahoma in 2018 out of a desire to build exceptional cyber security for organizations that were drowning under too many security tools, unable to find quality people, being bombarded with untenable strategies, management chasing buzz words and vendors offering the next silver bullet to solve all of our security problems.

We believe in building security with a mix of great people, practical tools, and solid strategy. No buzz words or silver bullets.

Building Oklahoma's cybersecurity community
We are active in the local cybersecurity community and help create spaces where practitioners can learn and connect. We have sponsored BSides Oklahoma, and Stephen and Chris have both spoken at BSides and the Information Warfare Summit. Today we host Cybersips, our own monthly meetup that is open to every experience level.
Supporting local sports
Over the years we have proudly sponsored local teams at the youth, high school, collegiate and semi-professional levels, because strong communities start with investing in the people who live in them.
Serving where we live
Our principals give their time to the organizations that hold our communities together, including local churches, booster clubs, educational organizations, and municipal boards.

Stephen Nelson

Stephen Nelson is Pinpoint Security’s co-founder and CEO, and he still rolls up his sleeves as a principal consultant on client work. He cut his teeth in banking and finance before defending Oklahoma’s energy sector through a six-year run at Chesapeake Energy. Stephen brings 20+ years of experience in cybersecurity to every engagement.

In May 2018 he and Amber co-founded Pinpoint to bring that experience to bear on protecting critical infrastructure and the organizations that depend on it. A well-traveled homebody who has called Oklahoma home for over 30 years, Stephen is happiest learning something new, finding another way to give back to his community or watching soccer.

Chris Ogles

Chris Ogles is the COO of Pinpoint Security and a principal consultant with more than 26 years of experience in cybersecurity. His career spans enterprise IT at Fortune 500 companies, managed services, and nearly a decade in the energy sector at Chesapeake Energy, where he ran security programs at scale in one of the most operationally demanding environments in the industry.

He joined Pinpoint in 2019 and works directly with clients to cut through the noise and build security programs that are practical, prioritized, and actually executable. Chris speaks on vulnerability management and risk-based patching, and on designing incident response tabletop exercises that are engaging rather than a compliance formality. He holds a BS in Computer Science, and off the clock he is a western Oklahoma family man, a servant leader in his church, and a dedicated Dungeon Master.

Kyle Beverly

Kyle Beverly is Pinpoint’s CTO and a principal consultant, leading the firm’s technology direction and its work in threat intelligence, incident response, and monitoring.

He began his career as a SCADA/OT penetration tester for a Big Four consulting firm before joining Chesapeake Energy’s cybersecurity team, accumulating 15 years of hands-on experience across offense and defense. Asked in his Chesapeake interview how he would secure the company’s SCADA environment, Kyle replied with a single question: “What’s the budget?” It reflects how he works, focusing effort and spend where they reduce the most risk.

He joined Pinpoint in 2021 and specializes in helping organizations detect, respond to, and recover from threats that reach inside the network. A Texan who has made Oklahoma home, Kyle is a devoted Oklahoma State fan.

Jon Rogers

Jon Rogers serves as a virtual CISO (vCISO) and principal consultant, giving organizations executive-level security leadership without the cost of a full-time hire. With 29 years of cybersecurity experience, beginning with his first cybersecurity role at AOL in 1997, he has built and led security programs at enterprise scale. He spent years in Oklahoma’s energy sector alongside several of his future Pinpoint colleagues before serving as Chief Information Security Officer at Continental Resources.

Jon joined Pinpoint in January 2026, where he helps organizations build and mature security programs through strategic leadership, risk management, and practical guidance. Jon is a graduate of the 2023 FBI CISO Academy and maintains an extensive network of colleagues across both the private and public sectors. Outside of work, Jon enjoys racing go-karts with his daughter and following Formula 1 and other motorsports.

Amber Nelson

Amber Nelson is Pinpoint’s co-founder and CMO, leading the brand, marketing, and community presence that make Pinpoint feel like Pinpoint. She brings 12 years in marketing, with a chapter in banking and time away to raise her family before she and Stephen launched Pinpoint in 2018.

Born and raised in Oklahoma, she lives the Oklahoma Standard and threads that same ethos through everything the firm puts its name on. When Amber isn’t holding down the fort, she enjoys endless romantic comedies and playing Mahjong with family.
